Hi John,
I live by the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
From a little girl growing up during segregation to now serving in Congress, this mindset has served as a timeless reminder to stay grounded and connect with my peers, despite how they may treat me.
Everyone I encounter is greeted with a smile — and if it’s not returned, I do not let that stop me from greeting the next person with another smile. Because through my years I’ve learned that if you treat people fairly, they tend to reciprocate.
And when you care about others, people take notice — it can catapult you to heights you could have never imagined, like Congress. I’m running for re-election to ensure everyone in our district feels seen, heard, and taken care of. To keep our mission on track, my team has set a $10,000 fundraising goal to reach by Friday at midnight. Will you please pitch in $5 or anything you can today?

My work in Congress is guided by the principles I grew up on. I’ll never lose sight of what it means to look out for your neighbors and ensure everyone has a seat at the table.
In a district as diverse as NC-04, it takes a whole lot of perseverance to usher in progress that accounts for everyone. And John, that is exactly why I do what I do.
I will never stop fighting for a brighter future for my home district. But I can’t do this on my own — can I count on you to donate today? Even $5 brings us that much closer to our $10,000 goal:
Thank you,
Valerie
