I’m sure your inbox is flooded with campaigns asking for your hard-earned money. If you can spare a moment, I’d like to tell you about two organizations that are close to my heart: the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Cara Collective.

I’ll be hosting an event for both of these organizations at Wrigley Field next week. I wish every single one of you could make it out here, but I know that’s not possible. However, I want those who can’t make it to support from home, too.

For years, these amazing local nonprofits have been fighting to eliminate poverty and food instability, and I’m proud to recognize their achievements.

As Cook County’s food bank, the Greater Chicago Food Depository partners with more than 700 pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and community programs to distribute more than 90 million pounds of food every year to residents in need. They also work with partner organizations, including Cara Collective, to provide job training and support programs to address some of the root causes of food insecurity.

Cara Collective also addresses the needs of Chicagoland’s residents through its professional training and job placement services. Over its 33 years in operation, Cara Collective has connected thousands of people with jobs at local businesses and provided them with new pathways to economic security.
