John, it's Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. In case you haven't heard, I'm the Democrat running to defeat Rick Scott in Florida. I'm also an immigrant from Ecuador, a gun safety advocate, a former congresswoman, and a proud mom.
I'm about to ask you to make a donation to support my campaign. (If you're ready to give now, you can click here to split a gift between my campaign and EMILYs List >> [link removed])
But first, let me explain why I'm asking and what's at stake:
- Rick Scott is one of the most out-of-touch senators in Washington. He wrote the plan to raise taxes on working families and end Medicare and Social Security. And he's supported a nationwide ban on abortions.
- Rick Scott only won this seat by 0.12% last time around — and he had to shell out a record $64 MILLION of his own money to do it. Now, recent polling shows our race is statistically tied.
- Election experts are saying that if I win, Democrats will be virtually guaranteed to maintain our Senate majority. If not, Senate control could easily flip to Republican anti-choice extremists.
I know that we can win in Florida, but I'm counting on your help to compete with Scott's massive personal fortune. So please, will you split a contribution between my campaign and EMILYs List to defeat Scott's out-of-touch agenda, defend our Senate majority, and flip this Florida Senate seat?

Thank you for believing in my campaign and in a better future for Florida,
Debbie
