The Associated Press has identified more than 100 pregnant women in physical distress who were refused help by emergency rooms since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. 

 

The story includes women who were told to go home despite bleeding and insufferable pain. Others were abandoned in urgent need of help, leaving them to miscarry in the stalls of hospitals’ public restrooms. Some will never be able to get pregnant again.

 

These are only the cases where pregnant women filed complaints against hospitals; the real number of victims could be in the thousands, and it’s not limited to states with full abortion bans.

 

One woman in California experiencing an ectopic pregnancy was left waiting in an emergency room for nine hours, desperate for care. She wasn’t helped until her condition was so extreme that she needed a blood transfusion. John, she sat in that ER for nine hours.

 

This is not happening in some third-world country. It’s happening right here, within driving distance of most if not all of our homes, and it will only get worse if we don’t flip the House and keep the Senate this year.

 

Republicans have introduced legislation that would TRACK pregnant women, making them fear even attempting to get help in life-threatening emergencies. When we flip the House, I can help stop this dystopian nightmare in its tracks. Are you with me?

I know how bad the situation is because I’ve seen it In Idaho, where our government took the Biden administration to court to stop doctors from performing abortions even in cases of a life-threatening emergency.

 

Our law allows for an abortion in cases of rape, but only if the victim can prove she was raped within the first trimester of pregnancy. That’s nearly impossible as it is, but it’s even worse for minors.

 

Minors need parental consent for a rape kit. What if her rapist is a parent or stepparent? She’d be forced to carry the child to term, AND her rapist would never be prosecuted.

 

That’s the reality NOW. If Republicans keep control of the House, the next two years will slide us further backwards. And trust me, there’s a lot in Project 2025 that a GOP-controlled Congress can get done even with Kamala in the White House.

 

It’s fun to call these people “weird” because they are, but we can’t forget that they’re also monsters.

 

The only thing worse than letting them stay in government is letting them keep control of it. We’re running out of time to stop them.
