Liz Willen Hi all!
Education usually isn’t among the top issues discussed in U.S. presidential elections, but there is still enormous urgency around how and where learning takes place, from the earliest years through college and job training.
That’s why our staff at The Hechinger Report went deep this week to tell you more the education records of former president Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio ([link removed]) , and Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota. ([link removed])
Their views go to the heart of what public education means in our democratic society. They also have implications for nearly every aspect of our lives, including child care, immigration, school choice, funding, family leave and college access, to name just a few.
There’s a lot more and that’s why we hope you will read this guide and understand why our small but mighty nonprofit staff so deeply values and enjoys covering education. You can get a lot more by signing up for our weekly newsletters ([link removed]) , and join those who have become members ([link removed]) and are helping us continue this important work.
