I want to tell you about the kind of leadership I’ve proudly brought to the halls of Congress. But before I go on, my team is racing to make up ground before our critical mid-month fundraising deadline hits on Thursday. Will you pitch in before our deadline to help us catch up and support our efforts to hold this seat and flip the House blue?
Since my first day in Washington, I’ve pushed hard to level the playing field for regular families in every way I can. I’ve worked to create an economy that uplifts everyone, not just the wealthiest few. I’ve delivered millions of dollars to expand affordable housing across the district. And I’ve defended critical programs like Social Security that so many families rely on every day. That’s the kind of leadership working families throughout Colorado’s 7th District are looking for. They don’t want to see their leaders in government bicker endlessly over partisan talking points. And they certainly don’t want to see their leaders enact policies that only benefit the rich and well-connected, instead of investing in the American people as a whole. I became interested in government because I worked for candidates and organizations that were fully committed to supporting and uplifting regular families just like mine. Eventually, I ran for the state legislature because I wanted to expand opportunities for thousands of Colorado families — and help them build a better life for themselves and for future generations. That dedication and commitment to leadership in the state legislature helped me pass so much important, impactful legislation, including a bill to codify the protections of Roe in Colorado, and a bill to make Colorado insurance premiums some of the lowest in the nation. In 2022, I ran for Congress because Coloradans deserved an advocate who would always fight for those who felt left behind. And that’s exactly what I’ve done since day one. I’ve protected the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Medicaid from far-right attacks, because every family deserves access to affordable care. I’ve defended our reproductive freedoms from far-right efforts to enact a national abortion ban, and I’ve introduced bipartisan legislation to confront the opioid crisis, protect Coloradans from the impacts of floods, and bolster access to rural health care. This kind of committed leadership is what we need more of in our government. But the Colorado GOP is working hard to replace me with an extremist who would be nothing more than a rubber stamp for the far-right’s backwards agenda.
