Here at California Environmental Voters, I lead our regulatory advocacy on major climate legal priorities. Right now, I’m focused on pushing the Environmental Protection Agency to approve the Advanced Clean Fleets waiver, a key ruling that would help clean up and protect California’s air quality!

Transportation is the number one source of emissions in California. The Advanced Clean Fleets rule was passed last year to reduce emissions from certain trucks and fleets. Under this rule, all new commercial trucks sold in California after 2036 must be zero-emission.

Before our state can start implementing this new rule, the EPA must authorize a waiver for California -- and the agency is holding a public hearing tomorrow.

This is a major part of our state’s fight against the climate crisis, but we’re stuck until the EPA gives the green light. Will you submit a public comment now telling the EPA to approve this critical waiver?

This is a common sense rule that would apply to heavy-duty trucks that transport shipping containers as well as state- and local government-owned fleets. Passing the rule will save $25 billion in health costs between now and 2050 by reducing the pollution burden faced by communities in busy trucking corridors.

The EPA must approve this waiver for California to implement the Advanced Clean Fleets program as planned. Each day we wait, the clock is ticking on the climate crisis. And approving this waiver won’t just help Californians -- it gives other states the opportunity to adopt it as well!

Submit a public comment before tomorrow’s hearing to tell the EPA it must approve this waiver so California can continue leading the way in reducing emissions and protecting our air.
