Before I give an update on the legislation the House just sent to the President's desk, I want to take a moment to acknowledge what many of us are thinking: our community, Commonwealth, and country are hurting right now. Our office has spoken with thousands of you about the issues facing those who are recently unemployed, small business owners, front-line workers, and seniors on fixed incomes. Our dedicated team is doing everything we can to amplify your voices in DC.
Through this experience, I'm reminded of how strong our American spirit is. There is bipartisan work happening on every level of our government, and I will continue focusing on the issues, not the politics, of healing our community.

Important Announcements and Resources
PASSED: Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Health Care Enhancement Act
I returned to Washington to help pass the bipartisan Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act. I’m proud to have taken aggressive action to include line items in this bill that are of great concern to my community: support for our micro-businesses, resources for our hospitals and health care workers in Chester and Berks counties, expanded eligibility for EIDL to our mushroom farmers and other agricultural producers, and a demand for a comprehensive national testing strategy.
Upcoming Town Hall
Next week, I will host my 7th Coronavirus Virtual Town Hall. I will be joined by Dr. Benjamin Abella, Attending Physician and Vice Chair the Department of Emergency Medicine at Penn Medicine. This will be a Facebook Live Town Hall. We'll be taking your questions throughout.
Coronavirus VirtualTown Hall You're invited to our 7th Coronavirus Virtual Town Hall. Date: Wednesday, April 29 Time: 10:00 - 11:00AM To Participate: Tune in on our Facebook page
What We're Working On
This week, I also introduced a bipartisan plan to implement a national testing strategy and will continue to work with the Administration on the establishment of a National Public Health Corps. We need to safely reopen our economy, and to do so, we must enact a testing strategy quickly and effectively.
I also introduced a bill to help manage risk in the Medicare Advantage marketplace during this time of national crisis while helping to lower premiums for seniors, a population particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. In Berks and Chester Counties, nearly 60,000 people are enrolled in Medicare Advantage. During this crisis, I have talked with many seniors – particularly those on a fixed income – who are worried about how they will manage their health care costs. I’m proud to introduce this important bill, which will help keep keep care affordable for our seniors during this crisis.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Whether it's delivering food, sewing masks, or donating to frontline workers, our community continues to meet the challenge of this pandemic with compassion and courage. You might have even seen our office highlight these stories through our #InThisTogether social media campaign. While the finish line is still out of sight, we know we will only get there by listening to our health experts and following appropriate guidelines.
Need Help?
We asked our response teams to share their most frequently asked question. Here's what they said:
Small Business
"I submitted my PPP/EIDL application before funding ran out. Will I have to resubmit my application once more funding becomes available?
If you submitted an EIDL application prior to the lapse in funding, you do NOT need to reapply. Your application is in the queue and will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis once funding is available. You can call the SBA customer service hotline with any questions about your EIDL application 1-800-659-2955
If you submitted a PPP loan application prior to the lapse in funding, please check in with your lender on the status of your application. You may need to ask them to resubmit on your behalf once funding is available.
I am here to help. Please reach out to [email protected] and a member of my rapid response team will answer your questions or connect you with someone who can.
Unemployment
"I’m confused about my claim, and I can’t get a hold of the Office of Unemployment Compensation. What should I do?"
We understand that the Pennsylvania Office of Unemployment Compensation is experiencing unprecedented levels of call volume.

Taxes and Rebates
"Who is eligible for the economic impact payment?"
The amount of the rebate depends on family size and on income. Tax filers with adjusted gross income up to $75,000 for individuals and up to $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns will receive the full payment. For filers with income above those amounts, the payment amount is reduced by $5 for each $100 above the $75,000/$150,000 thresholds. Single filers with income exceeding $99,000 and $198,000 for joint filers with no children are not eligible.
