*Detroit Woman Sentenced for Operating as an Unlicensed Real Estate Agent, Accountant*

*LANSING* ? Today, Krystal Davis, 37, of Detroit, was sentenced by the Hon. Bradley L. Cobb in the Third Circuit Court in Wayne County to 2 years' probation for operating as an unlicensed real estate agent and accountant, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Davis pled no contest [ [link removed] ] to one count of Accounting Violations-Unlicensed CPA and two counts of Occupational Code-Unlicensed Real Estate Agent in June.?

?There is a reason we have licensing requirements for real estate agents, accountants, and other occupational professions,? Nessel said. ?People need to trust those they hire to sell their home, provide property management services, or handle their finances. My department will continue to hold those who attempt to evade licensing and regulatory requirements accountable to protect the financial pockets of Michiganders.??

Davis, who operated using the business of Card Property Management, LLC, entered into a contract with the owner of two residential properties in Detroit to provide property management services, including determining rental rates, marketing the properties, selecting tenants, collecting rent, and handling evictions. Davis was not licensed in the state as a real estate broker or real estate salesperson, as would be required by law to furnish such services. Card Property Management, LLC, a limited liability company, was the assumed name of Card Enterprises, LLC, which is similarly not licensed to provide real estate services.? ?

Davis also told another person that she was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the context of electronic communication soliciting business from that person to prepare their taxes. Davis was not licensed in Michigan as a CPA.?
