John, down-ballot races are built different.

While campaigns toward the top of the ticket rake in big money, state campaigns are often run on lean budgets.

Take a look at these stats from the 2020 elections in Arizona:

  • U.S. Senate: The Democratic and Republican nominees raised a combined total of over $170 million.
  • State legislature: Nearly 200 candidates for the State House and Senate, all put together, raised about 5% of that — around $9.6 million in total. On average, each Democrat raised $48,450, and each Republican brought in $51,490.

Now Arizona is one of our priority states for the 2024 elections. Democrats only need to flip two seats each in the House and Senate to gain control of both chambers, which would pave the way toward strengthening the state’s redistricting process.

As we work across the country to elect Democracy Defenders to critical positions in state government, a little goes a long way. Your gift today can go even further than a donation to races on the national level.

Will you rush a $30 donation today to make a much-needed — and highly valuable  — investment in the NDRC’s work and our support for candidates across the country?

While a lot of folks pay the most attention to federal races, you’re on this team because you know that state-level elections are critical for the values we share — including protecting reproductive freedom, health care, education, LGBTQ+ rights, and other issues that fundamentally shape our lives. They also provide a vital firewall against Republican gerrymandering.

We must make sure that communities across the country know the stakes of these elections — and your support could be the difference-maker.

We’re relying on this team to help elect Democracy Defenders across the country. Can we count you in today, John?

Thanks,

Biz
John Bisognano,
President of the NDRC
