John,
No farm animal deserves to spend its life in extreme suffering. Pigs don't belong in cramped crates, hens don't belong in cages, and chickens should not be bred to suffer in bodies that grow so quickly that their own organs cannot keep up. Yet the overwhelming majority of farm animals raised for food are kept this way inside factory farms.
It isn’t healthy for them. It isn’t healthy for you. It isn’t healthy for anyone.
One solution lies with supermarkets. They have great power to make a real difference, but some are completely failing:
Trader Joe's(R), Winn-Dixie(R), Piggly Wiggly(R) and Save A Lot(R) scored a ZERO for their farm animal welfare policies and progress in the ASPCA’s 2023 Supermarket Scorecard AND in our just-released

2024 Supermarket Scorecard . This means these stores have no public commitment to remove products from their shelves that are made using the cruelest practices, like extreme confinement.

Animals are suffering, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Sign our petition to tell these stores it’s time to do better.
Thank you for using your voice to help farm animals.
Sincerely,
Daisy Freund
Vice President, ASPCA Farm Animal Welfare
