The DNC is coming up next week and a new Harris/Walz ticket will be rolling out their policy platform, so we want to talk about the record on a few of the issues we know most voters have on their minds right now.

Before we dive in, let us know how you’re feeling about the Democratic policy platform:I'M LOVING IT! [[link removed]]

THE RECORD ON GUN SAFETY

Mary Gay: Passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and co-sponsored the Destroy Zombie Guns Act and the Fire Sale Loophole Closing Act.

Biden/Harris: Implemented the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act , expanded firearm background checks, and continues to fight for an Assault Weapons Ban.

Gov. Walz: Signed into Minnesota law universal background checks and harsher punitive measures for people caught purchasing a firearm for someone ineligible for gun ownership.

Donald Trump: Backed by the NRA, blocked common sense gun reform while President and is running on the message that “no one will lay a finger on your firearms.”

THE RECORD ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Mary Gay: Passed the Inflation Reduction Act and co-sponsored the Clean Water Act , the Climate Action Now Act, and the PFAS Action Act.

Biden/Harris: Signed into law the Inflation Reduction Act — which includes the most comprehensive climate legislation in U.S history.

Gov. Walz: Signed into law the Green Energy Bill —requiring Minnesota to eliminate carbon from its electricity generation by 2040.

Donald Trump: While he was President he pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Accord and took 74 actions to weaken environmental protection and forward-looking investment in a clean energy future.

THE RECORD ON EDUCATION

Mary Gay: Passed the American Rescue Plan and co-sponsored the Rebuild America’s Schools Act, Safe Schools Improvement Act, EDUCATORS for America Act , and 118 other bills aimed at improving our education.

Biden/Harris: The administration’s American Rescue Plan set aside nearly $170 billion for public schools. It is the federal government’s single largest-ever investment in education.

Gov. Walz: Signed into law universal school meals for Minnesota public and charter schools, and signed into law a bill that put $2.2 billion in new funding toward K-12 education.

Donald Trump: Wants to eliminate the Department of Education, fully cut Title 1 (which provides grants to schools with low-income students), and control the curriculum to cater to right-wing ideologue interests.

Mary Gay, Vice President Harris, and Governor Walz are dedicated to getting the job done and fighting for progress on the real issues that impact American lives. Donald Trump and the GOP are dedicated to their dark money donors and themselves, period.
