Last week, Michigan held its highly anticipated primary elections. We wanted to share some updates with you as well as next steps ahead of the general election.

Let’s start with a BIG WIN: Alyshia Dyer WON her race for Washtenaw County Sheriff and will now serve as the FIRST woman Sheriff in her county's history and the FIRST Democratic woman to be elected Sheriff in the entire state of Michigan!! 🎉

Callie Barr won her primary election for the U.S. Congress (MI-01), which means she’ll be up against her own congressman – an anti-choice extremist – this November.
Callie’s opponent is a MAGA Republican and 2020 election denier. In Congress, he co-sponsored a bill that bans abortions with no exception for the safety or life of the mother. We are sick and tired of men making decisions about our health, our safety, and our bodies.

This is our chance to unseat him in Congress.

She comes from a strong line of Northern Michigan women, and as a mom of two young girls herself, she understands how important it is that we trust women in difficult circumstances to make the best healthcare decisions for themselves and their families.

Michiganders have continuously pushed back against restrictions to reproductive healthcare, and early polling indicated that Rep. Bergman is extremely vulnerable on this issue as this race comes to a statistical tie when voters learn about Bergman’s extremist anti-abortion position.

Together, we can work to ensure voters know where he stands and to persuade non-partisan voters and Democrats to turn out to the polls in November.
