More than 40 years ago, I enlisted as a private in the Army National Guard.

I served multiple combat deployments — Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia — and retired last year as a major general.

I respect the service of all who’ve served our country.

But it’s a disservice to knowingly get out of a deployment.

Over the weekend, I was asked to share my thoughts about Tim Walz, Kamala Harris’ VP pick, getting out of his scheduled deployment to Iraq.

I hope you’ll take a few moments to watch what I had to say here.

Thanks for being on the team.

As Georgia’s Insurance Commissioner, I’m standing up to the big corporations, rooting out corruption, and putting families first.

As the first Hispanic elected statewide in our history, I'm working to build bridges with Latino voters before Election Day.

This work matters, and it’s critical we have the means to get the word out. I need you on the frontlines with me.
