### **FDNY: Booing Letitia James is a Crime**

In a decisive move that underscores his commitment to bolstering public safety and efficiency within the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), Mayor Eric Adams has appointed Robert Tucker, a seasoned security expert and CEO of T&M USA, as the new Fire Commissioner. Tucker replaces Laura Kavanagh, whose tenure was marred by controversy and discord within the ranks of the department.

Kavanagh, the first woman to hold the position, stepped down following a tumultuous period highlighted by a public backlash during a promotion ceremony involving Attorney General Letitia James. The incident, which saw firefighters jeering and chanting in support of a political figure, underscored deep-seated issues within the department's culture.

Andrew Ansbro, president of the FDNY Uniformed Firefighters Association, lauded Tucker's deep connections and understanding of the department. "It is great to see that the new commissioner has long and deep ties with the FDNY and a great appreciation for the rank and file of New York City’s bravest," Ansbro remarked.

Ansbro also expressed optimism about Tucker's leadership, stating, "We wish him luck and success as he assumes the role of commissioner of the FDNY, the greatest fire department in the world."

The transition comes at a critical time for the FDNY, which has faced internal challenges and public scrutiny. Former Commissioner Kavanagh's era was notably rocky, with incidents such as the FDNY Chief of Department John Hodgens issuing a stern warning during the controversial promotion ceremony, stating, "I recommend they come forward. I have been told by the Commissioner it will be better for them if they come forward, and we don't have to hunt them down."
