John,

Children, families, and teachers across America are preparing for the return to school this fall, and guns in our classrooms is not something they should have to worry about.

That is why I introduced a resolution with Senator Chris Murphy to keep guns out of our schools.

The safety of students and educators is deeply personal for me and so many Americans — and the majority of us agree that we should not be putting guns in the hands of our teachers.

John, I will be frank. Republican Speaker Mike Johnson wants to advance extreme proposals that would undermine gun safety, and he is hoping to flip this seat in order to build a majority that puts the gun lobby ahead of the safety of our communities. When my opponent George Logan was a state Senator in Connecticut he voted against gun safety legislation calling it “a waste of time” and a “political stunt.” He even said gun safety “really wasn’t an issue for Connecticut residents.”

If that is not enough, Speaker Mike Johnson and the Koch network of megadonors are steering millions of dollars to support him, and the NRCC has made this district one of its Top Five races.

We have fewer than 90 days to defend CT-05 and elect a House majority that will enact common sense solutions to stop gun violence. John, will you contribute $5 to my campaign to help defend this frontline seat from the GOP and ensure Congress takes the action we need to address gun violence? [[link removed]]

As a teacher, I will never stop advocating for the safety of our schools, communities and public spaces.

With gratitude,

Jahana
