Dear John,

I wish we were living in happier times. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected us physically, financially, and emotionally, and the days of social isolation are draining.

The moments of community and connection that matter to us most — birthday barbeques, church luncheons, family reunions — feel so far away.

But we cannot let this physical distance divide us. Now is the time to come together, raise our voices as one, and say that Georgia is strong enough to make it through.

I’m fighting for you in Congress — in the last few weeks I have helped pass bills to fund research for a cure, strengthen our social safety nets, provide special protections for seniors and the uninsured, and make testing free for anyone who needs it.

If you’re looking for a silver lining, here it is: I have never seen so much bipartisan communication, cooperation, and civil conversation in the House of Representatives as I have during this crisis.

We have the power to decide the outcome of this story — if we put our differences aside and focus on common-sense solutions, we can work toward a healthier, happier future.

If you agree, please consider chipping in a few dollars to my campaign for re-election. Every little bit counts.

Stay safe, stay well, and know that I am fighting for you.

Sincerely,
Congressman Sanford Bishop
