Friends, it's Bernie Sanders.
I'm reaching out to ask you to make a contribution to Ilhan Omar's re-election campaign for Congress before her primary in Minnesota tomorrow. If that's all you need to hear, please donate directly to her campaign using this link:

Otherwise, let me tell you a bit about the Ilhan that I know.
Ilhan is not only one of the most outstanding and courageous representatives we have in Congress today, Ilhan is also one of the toughest people that I know.
A few years ago during my campaign for president, Ilhan and I, along with her daughter and a handful of other progressives, met for dinner in Washington.
It was there that we heard news that Donald Trump had waged a vicious and disgusting personal attack against Ilhan, leading thousands of people at his rally to chant "send her back."
To my surprise, Ilhan was almost entirely unfazed. Unfortunately, she told me, that kind of racism and bigotry was nothing new. "I've gotten this my whole life," she said.
Ilhan understood that Trump was a demagogue, doing what he does best: attempting to divide us up through hate.
Both before and since that night, Ilhan has fought back time and again against the right wing's endless attacks and dangerous rhetoric, all while serving as a tireless champion for our nationwide movement.
So yes. Ilhan is tough. She is a leader with incredible strength and courage, and the people of Minnesota's 5th district should be enormously proud to have her fighting for our values in Washington.
That is why — with a primary election tomorrow and powerful special interest groups pouring dark money into Minnesota to try and defeat her — I'm asking you today to do something important. Something that will help ensure she stays with us in Congress for a long time to come:
Please use this link to make a contribution of $3 or any amount to join me in supporting Ilhan Omar's re-election campaign. At a time when progressive voices are needed more than ever, we must elect leaders like Ilhan who understand the needs of working people.

Let me very clear, friends:
If we are serious about building a political revolution — about fighting for an agenda based on economic justice, social justice, racial justice, and environmental justice, both here in the United States and around the world — we need people like Ilhan representing those values and working for them every day in Congress.
Whether she's taking on corporate polluters and the pharmaceutical industry, or fighting for Medicare for All, canceling student debt, or an end to child hunger, I have seen firsthand the passion and commitment Ilhan brings when serving her constituents and the working people of our country.
As our movement's struggle continues, I know that we can count on Ilhan not to back down from the fight — because Ilhan has never backed down before.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for contributing to her campaign before tomorrow's primary if you can.
In solidarity,
Bernie Sanders
