Hurricane Beryl Assistance and Response

The Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) is providing assistance to Texans affected by the severe storms, tornadoes, flooding and high winds that began April 26, 2024.

If you experienced storm related damage and seek assistance from FEMA, you may apply online or by phone at disasterassistance.gov/ or call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.

For the latest information about Texas’ recovery, visit fema.gov/disaster/4781. Follow the FEMA Region 6 Twitter account at twitter.com/FEMARegion6 or on Facebook at facebook.com/FEMARegion6/

Texans who sustained damage caused by tropical weather are encouraged to report damage through the Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT).

For constituents who are on CenterPoint Energy, CenterPoint has relaunched its outage tracker. The online tool will provide constituents with information during storms and is designed to handle increased demand during such events.

Since running for Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz has been the subject of controversy surrounding his military record.

Exaggerating military service for personal gain and political office is insulting and frustrating to combat veterans like myself. Unfortunately, it has a long history in American politics.

It turns out Tim Walz is subject to that history. He served in the National Guard for 24 years, but since 2018, he’s falsely claimed to have been deployed to war zones. He used this claim to embellish his record to win over rural voters and advocate for gun control. He argues the weapons he supposedly carried into combat have no place on our streets.

Then yesterday, the Harris-Walz campaign scrubbed Walz’s rank as a “retired command sergeant major” from their website.

To be clear: there’s nothing wrong with being in the military and not seeing actual combat. Plenty of members of the military were never deployed to a war zone, and we still thank them for their selfless service to our nation.

There is a problem when you lie about your record for personal advantage.
