As always, we aim to deliver the same excellence in services that our residents deserve and we will continue to invest in our key priorities including housing, transit, public safety, the environment and more. Through smart, efficient budgeting, we are ensuring Miami-Dade is set up for success for years to come. In fact, several of our county's

Building a Future-Ready Community
A brighter future for Overtown

Earlier this month, our county received a $40 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant from HUD to revitalize Overtown, alongside our municipal and nonprofit partners. Just one year after receiving the same funding for Goulds, we are the only community in the nation to receive these grants back-to-back! This project will not only redevelop public housing – it provides a once-in-a-generation opportunity for entire neighborhood transformation. Read more

A new chapter for public transit and public health

Our county’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) and my Office of Innovation and Economic Development (OIED) teamed up with two of Miami-Dade's major health systems, UHealth and Jackson, for a major makeover of the former Civic Center Metrorail station. Now known as the

Accelerating climate readiness

We were thrilled to receive

$19.5 million from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) for the South Florida ClimateReady Tech Hub, spearheaded by Miami-Dade County! The ClimateReady Tech Hub is one of the 31 Tech Hubs designated by the EDA in October 2023, chosen from nearly 200 applicants nationwide. Fewer than half were awarded funds. This investment will further enable us to confront the climate crisis head-on, drive economic innovation, and create high-quality climate tech jobs here in South Florida.

shore power ready ! This has been a key environmental goal for my administration, and we collaborated with FPL and major cruise companies to make shore power a reality at last. Shore power allows up to three cruise ships at a time to plug into the local electrical grid, reducing emissions and pollution.

Preventing drownings through education

I was proud to launch

Zero Drownings Miami-Dade in collaboration with our school system, the Children’s Trust, and other community partners. This innovative water safety program transforms drowning prevention education by investing in year-round swim lessons for four-year-old children in our community who need it most. Through essential learn-to-swim lessons during the school day, our goal is to reach 20,000 children within three years!

Boat safety reminder

This summer, we continue to remind our community about the critical importance of

boat safety . Just one life on our waters is one too many. We must honor the memory of all those we have lost to boating tragedies by ensuring they never happen again.
