Living Well with Dementia:
Physical Health

A dementia diagnosis can be extremely upsetting. But caring
for your physical health can help people live well with their
diagnosis as long as possible. There are several ways to maximize
physical health after a diagnosis:

* Get regular checkups.
* Establish a routine for diet and exercise.
* Create a?care team?that understands your physical
health needs and can help you monitor or respond to any changes
that occur.
* Listen to your body. Rest when you are tired and be mindful of
overextending yourself.
* Drink only minimal amounts of alcohol.
* Do not change medications and/or dosages without first checking
with your doctor.

Offering resources to help improve care and support for people
living with Alzheimer's or other dementia is a critical part of our
work. Can I count on your support during our $160,000 2X Matching Gift
Challenge when your first gift can go TWICE as far to fuel our
priorities?

The Kahlert Foundation, a Maryland based family foundation,
has pledged a $160,000 gift to the Alzheimer's Association to support
Alzheimer's research and programs and outreach initiatives at their
local chapter - but only if we can raise that same amount by
August 16. Thanks to their generosity, any gift you make, up to a
total of $160,000, can be matched to advance critical research efforts
and help provide care and support.

We're getting close to the end of this match challenge, and we
need you with us. This funding will be vital to providing care and
support resources and for advancing cutting-edge research for more
treatments and, eventually, a cure. It is only with your help that we
can continue this march forward. I would be so grateful if you took
the time today to make your first gift that can be matched and have
TWICE the impact.
