The Flying Eye Hospital’s latest sight-saving training project is already underway in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, where access to quality-eye care is scarce.
This isn’t the first time Orbis has been to Mongolia with the Flying Eye Hospital. We first visited in 1989 to help improve the skills of local eye teams. Since then, the Flying Eye Hospital has been back in Mongolia in 2014, 2018, and virtually in 2021.
Every day, we commit to preventing eye diseases and training doctors around the world—and we’ve made significant progress since our first visit. We’ve established or renovated 10 neonatal intensive care units, supported the establishment of four secondary hospitals, three tertiary hospitals, and one wet lab, all of which help increase access to care.
Over the next three weeks, we will be conducting training sessions and workshops for local eye teams, helping to boost confidence and improve patient outcomes. That’s why your support today is crucial and will have a profound impact on the lives of others.
