Freelance photographer Hugh Kinsella Cunningham's evocative work documenting the suffering of civilians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has earned him the ICRC’s prestigious Humanitarian Visa d’Or award.
"That's five years of my life!" Cunningham exclaimed, his voice filled with emotion, upon hearing the news. “It’s amazing to think that more people will learn about something they might notr necessarily be exposed to in the news.”
