VISITING MIAMI'S AMAZING COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER NEAR CUTLER BAY!

I had the pleasure of joining the Mayor of Cutler Bay, Tim Meerbott, in visiting one of District 27's amazing community health centers right at the edge of the town.

In honor of National Health Center Week, I want you, my constituents, to know that I am working with local health and community leaders from across Florida's 27th Congressional District to deliver quality healthcare for you, no matter your income.

FIGHTING THE FENTANYL CRISIS!

As many of you may know, the fentanyl crisis is wreaking havoc in communities across the United States, and much of it is coming across the southern border from countries in Central and South America.

To help fight against this epidemic, I introduced the DISPOSE Act to eliminate the production of fentanyl and the precursor chemicals used to make it well before it reaches our borders. The bill establishes destruction facilities for these substances in three critical choke points: Mexico, Colombia, and Peru.

By working with our allies and partners in the region, we can help bring down deaths and overdoses associated with these drugs while disempowering those who profit off of them.

IMPROVING THE U.S. - EL SALVADOR PARTNERSHIP!

Last week, I joined my colleagues on the newly formed Congressional El Salvador Caucus in a bipartisan letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken requesting his department update El Salvador’s travel advisory to “Level 1: Exercise normal precautions” from “Level 3: Reconsider travel”, to reflect the major improvements in safety the country has made.

Once the most dangerous country in the entire world, El Salvador is now the safest country in the Western Hemisphere. The tough-on-crime approach of President Nayib Bukele and his administration have drastically reduced the power and influence of violent gang members across his country. We believe the United States must update its policies towards El Salvador to reflect this public safety miracle.

Many tourists, including the thousands of Salvadoran-Americans that live in our community, visit the country each year. Since many of these tourists review the State Department’s advisories before traveling, this new data must be reflected in its publications.
