John,

Throughout all of the fear, chaos, and uncertainty of these recent weeks, Dr. Anthony Fauci has been a much-needed voice of facts, calm, and authority.

He's put data and science front-and-center for the American people. He's made the complexity of the situation easy to understand. His clear explanations of the dangers of COVID-19 and the social distancing measures we must take have saved lives. And he has not been afraid to correct the record when the administration has put out inaccurate information.

We've seen many times in these last three years that anyone who speaks truth to power in this administration can quickly become unwelcome. After Donald Trump retweeted a post containing the hashtag #FireFauci, we are concerned (despite the administration's denials) that Dr. Fauci's position could be in danger. And NBC News reported the following yesterday:

"Of the roughly 50 press conferences on the health crisis so far, Fauci had only missed a handful. But now, for the first time since regular press conferences began on the topic, Fauci was only present for one of seven briefings this week.

While Fauci gave media interviews throughout the week, his absence at the podium Friday was notable given the president’s controversial remarks a day earlier about using light and disinfectants to possibly treat the deadly respiratory illness."

We need to show that Dr. Fauci has the confidence and support of the American people. It needs to be clear that firing him would be unacceptable to an overwhelming majority.

That's why Hiral has joined a coalition of candidates, elected officials, and organizations to insist that Dr. Fauci remain at the helm of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. And we are hoping to add at least 10,000 more citizen co-signers to our petition this week. Please show your support for Dr. Fauci and demand that he not be fired -- add your name today >>
