In 87 days, Michigan will decide who they want as their next U.S. Senator and their next President.

Ultimately, this election is about two different visions for our nation. One focused on the future. And one focused on the past.

Elissa Slotkin and I believe in a future where every person has the opportunity not just to get by, but to get ahead.

Where no child has to grow up in poverty. Where every worker has the freedom to join a union. Where every person has affordable health care, child care, and paid leave. Where every senior can retire with dignity.

But Donald Trump and his extremist Republican allies want to take our country backward. They intend to cut Social Security and Medicare, to give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations and to make working families foot the bill, and end the Affordable Care Act.

America has tried these failed policies before. We are not going back.

Generations of Americans before us led the fight for freedom. Now, the baton is in our hands. To protect the right to vote. To get assault weapons off of our streets. To restore reproductive freedom, reversing Donald Trump's extreme abortion bans.

The Michigan Senate race could be the deciding factor in whether Democrats maintain the majority. I look forward to working with Elissa to fight for the American people.
