Hi Friend,
I'm planning a special fifth birthday celebration -- and by that, I mean a big, exciting, impactful birthday match -- and you're invited. I really hope you'll join me this week in doubling the good we can do for children turning five.

Five is a big deal.

That's because, around the world, the first five years of a child's life are the most vulnerable. Access to basic nutrition, health care and protection in those first crucial years will determine if a child reaches their full potential -- and for millions of kids, whether or not they survive.

There's another, more personal reason I'm choosing five, too: my daughter Elizabella turns five next month (!!) -- and she wants to share her special day with kids who need a helping hand.

It's safe to say that because of UNICEF's work, millions more children are celebrating their fifth birthdays (and beyond) every year. That's incredible, isn't it Friend?

But we still have work to do. About 15,000 children under five still die every day of causes that could have been prevented, if only they'd had access to basic nutrition, protection and care.
