In the U.S. Air Force fleet, the average fighter is about 30 years old. These aging aircraft are increasingly neither mission capable nor safe to fly, and purchases of new aircraft are not keeping up with the pace of the problem.

The 2+2 meeting between Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and their counterparts resulted in a U.S. commitment to allocate $500 million in foreign military financing to the Philippines.
