Friend — I’ll be upfront: At the end of this email, I am going to ask you to support my reelection campaign. But first I want to explain why I need your help.
COVID-19 has changed the way we’re approaching our June 23rd primary election. We are:
Pivoting our campaign to be entirely remote to adhere to social distancing guidelines, in lieu of traditional field operations;
Using texting platforms and remote phone banks to check in on folks and make sure they have access to the resources they need;
Hosting virtual neighborhood and issue meet-and-greets so that I can meet with and engage with voters.
Now that Mayor de Blasio has announced that all events and gatherings are suspended in New York through June, it is clear that this will be the new normal for the rest of the primary campaign.
Pivoting our campaign online was a necessary decision, but it has put a strain on our campaign resources. And because we are no longer able to hold in-person events, we have not been able to raise the money we need to run our critical voter outreach operations.
