Many working families get by during the school year with the help of SNAP benefits and free or reduced-price school lunches. But when it's summer and school is out, low-income parents are forced to stretch already thin budgets even further.
This year, the Biden-Harris administration expanded summer SNAP benefits for school-aged kids so they can have a nutritious lunch, giving families much-needed relief.
Republican governors of 14 states rejected that funding.
In Donald Trump's MAGA world, leaders call feeding hungry children "fiscally irresponsible" and say it "promotes dependence." I call it the right thing to do. In fact, Trump's Project 2025 agenda lays out a plan to dismantle the Dept. of Education, undermine the USDA, and significantly cut SNAP benefits, one of the most important nutrition programs for needy families.
I proudly supported legislation to keep kids healthy and thriving. And I will continue to support fully funding public education, ending school lunch debt, and reducing barriers to accessing the SNAP program so all students can have a healthy meal whether school is in session or not.
Right now, we are only a few seats away from retaking the majority in the House. We can give Kamala Harris the Democratic majority she needs to pass a compassionate, commonsense, progressive agenda that invests in children and helps working families.
Can you make a contribution today – with less than 100 days to go – so we can fight back against Project 2025 – a plan that would devastate public school funding, nutrition and hunger programs, and more?
Thank you for standing with me for a better future,
Suzanne
