Justice Thomas Failed to Reveal More Private Flights
John, reading this may feel like déjà vu. That’s because we keep learning about new trips that Justice Clarence Thomas never disclosed, funded by some ultra-wealthy donor.
Justice Clarence Thomas has once again failed to publicly disclose private travel provided by the conservative billionaire Harlan Crow. Customs and Border Protection records revealed that the justice and his wife Ginny Thomas took a round trip between Hawaii and New Zealand in November 2010 on Crow’s private jet.
John, this cannot keep happening. Clarence Thomas needs to resign from the Supreme Court, and must be thoroughly investigated by the Department of Justice for apparent violations of the Ethics in Government Act.

ProPublica broke the news in April of last year that for more than two decades, Clarence Thomas accepted luxury trips virtually every year from Harlan Crow without ever disclosing them.
Since then, we’ve learned more and more about Clarence Thomas’s various ethical scandals and violations of disclosure rules:
– He had a $270,000 loan for a luxury RV apparently forgiven from another one of his wealthy friends.
– He refused to recuse himself from cases about efforts to overturn the 2020 election when his wife was directly involved in some of those efforts.
– He received other benefits from Crow, including the payment of private school tuition for Thomas's grandnephew and other substantial gifts.
– And when he finally amended his financial disclosure forms, he *still* left out multiple luxury trips.
By law, justices are required to fill out a financial disclosure form each year, including listing outside sources of income and gifts.
CREW filed a complaint last April against Justice Thomas for these blatant violations of the Ethics in Government Act because we strongly believe that his actions merit an investigation. Then we filed ANOTHER complaint this summer, adding more evidence to the pile against him.
But John, we don’t need an investigation to know that Clarence Thomas needs to resign. If a justice won’t take the law and their own ethical obligations seriously, why should they sit on the highest court in the nation?
Justice Thomas likely violated civil and criminal laws and has created the impression that access to and influence over Supreme Court justices is for sale. His actions have been a poison to the Supreme Court, and if we want to restore public faith in the Court, Justice Thomas must resign.
Nobody is above the law, not even a Supreme Court justice. And CREW will continue to make sure Clarence Thomas is held accountable. Please support our fight by making a donation to CREW today →
