Welcome to Hogan’s Highlights! Every week, we’ll give you an exclusive look at Gov. Larry Hogan’s journey on the campaign trail and round up the biggest stories impacting the state of the Senate race.

On Saturday, August 3, Gov. Hogan celebrated the grand opening of our campaign’s Howard County field office with his good friend, former Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford.

MEETING WITH FIREFIGHTERS
Next, Gov. Hogan visited the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company in Carroll County to tour their new firehouse and thank some of our local heroes.
Gov. Hogan: “Earlier this week, the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company was one of the crews from the area that responded to the two-alarm fire at Clearfield Bible Church. Thank you to all our incredible first responders who answer the call to serve every single day.
A MOVING TRIBUTE
Sunday, August 4, marked one year since the murder of Rachel Morin.
Gov. Hogan: “Today’s remembrance walk in honor of Rachel Morin—marking one year since her murder—was a moving tribute to her memory, and to the strength and resilience of her family.
Rachel’s spirit will live on in our hearts, and her family will always have the love and support of this entire community. Thank you to all those who joined us today.
Over the last year, Rachel Morin’s mother, Patty, and the entire Morin family have shown incredible strength while enduring unfathomable pain no family should have to go through.
It was an honor to join them today and be able to speak with each of them and keep Rachel’s memory alive.”
CELEBRATING MARYLAND COMMUNITIES
On Monday, August 5, Gov. Hogan visited the Maryland Latino Festival in Timonium.
Gov. Hogan: “We had a great time stopping by the Maryland Latino Festival in Timonium, and connecting with so many members of our state’s Hispanic community. Thank you for having us!”
LAW ENFORCEMENT ENDORSEMENT
Later that day in Gaithersburg, Gov. Hogan was honored to receive the official endorsement of Montgomery County FOP Lodge 35—adding to the overwhelming support he has received from law enforcement leaders and organizations across the state.
Gov. Hogan: “Today and everyday, I want to express our gratitude to the brave men and women of law enforcement, not just here in Montgomery County, but all across our state and our nation who put their lives on the line every single day to keep the rest of us safe.
There has never been a more important time to support law enforcement. I will always be proud to back the blue.”
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
On Tuesday, August 6, Gov. Hogan attended the Olney National Night Out in Montgomery County and Crofton National Night Out in Anne Arundel County.
Gov. Hogan: “Each year, thousands of communities across the country turn out to honor the brave men and women of law enforcement while promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Maryland’s law enforcement will always be able to count on my unwavering support. I was proud to back the blue as governor, and it’s exactly what I’ll continue to do in the Senate.”
NEW TV AD: “RESULTS FOR MARYLAND”
It’s time we put people over politics.
On Wednesday August 7, we launched a new TV ad talking about how Gov. Hogan plans to end the toxic politics and divisiveness in Washington–and we want you to watch it.
On Thursday, August 8, in Prince George’s County, Gov. Hogan visited the Ironworkers Local 5 Training Program. While there, he toured their facilities, met with apprentices, and discussed the issues and challenges facing Maryland’s workforce.
Gov. Hogan: “I am so proud of the historic work our administration accomplished to grow and diversify apprenticeships and that in 2022, we were able to make Maryland the first state in the nation to eliminate unnecessary college degree requirements for jobs in state governments.
A number of states have followed our lead, but much more needs to be done to remove barriers for workers–particularly at the federal level.
In the Senate, I will bring these same innovative approaches to make opportunities even more accessible for all Americans."
This week marks the 50th anniversary of President Nixon’s resignation from office.
On Thursday, August 8, Gov. Hogan joined CNN and talked about how his dad was the first Republican to call for his impeachment.
Gov. Hogan: “He knew it would cost him politically, but he did what he thought was the right thing to do, setting aside his own personal considerations and putting country over party. That kind of leadership and statesmanship has become far too rare in Washington and in our politics.”

When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.
Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.
Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.
I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.
It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.
For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!
