FEDERAL FUNDING FOR LOCAL AIRPORT

Earlier this week, I was happy to announce the Palm Springs International Airport is receiving an $8 million grant from the FAA to upgrade its taxiways. Earlier this year, I voted to approve the FY24 Transportation/HUD Appropriations bill which made this grant possible. As the primary airport serving the Coachella Valley, it’s critical that we continue to invest in the Palm Springs International Airport and provide robust air travel options for both residents and visitors.

As this news report highlights, I recently led a bipartisan effort with my House colleagues and White Coat Waste Project to stop the use of dogs, cats and primates in tests at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). I will keep fighting to end the unnecessary use of animals in federally funded testing.

 

PROTECTING US FROM WILDFIRES

Recent wildfires underscore we need all of the support we can get. More air assets can save lives and property. That’s why I led a bipartisan effort with Senator Padilla to transfer seven C-130 aircraft from the U.S. Coast Guard to the CalFire for use in wildfire suppression.
