How people living with dementia benefit from friendship.
Dear Friend,
This week is critically important, as we're more than halfway through our $160,000 2X Matching Gift Challenge. The Kahlert Foundation, a Maryland based family foundation, has pledged $160,000 to the Alzheimer's Association supporting Alzheimer's research and programs and outreach initiatives at their local chapter — but only if we can raise that same amount by August 16. Your gift can have TWICE the impact on providing care and support resources and accelerating research. Can I count on you today?
Living Well with Dementia: Social Health
Maintaining social health through strong relationships and an active social network are important for everyone, but it's especially critical for people living with dementia. Caring for your social health can be a comforting and satisfying experience, and it can even have an impact on your overall health. Those who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's or another dementia often find that connecting with others who also are living in the early stage can provide much-needed camaraderie and understanding.
ALZ Connected® is a dedicated community where people with Alzheimer's, their caregivers and others affected by the disease can share answers, opinions, ideas and support. Alzheimer's Association's early stage social engagement programs provide opportunities for individuals living with dementia to interact through group activities in a community setting.
At the Alzheimer's Association, we are concerned with the overall well-being of our community. In addition to physical, cognitive and emotional health, we provide important ways for people living with dementia to maintain their social health — a component of overall well-being that comes from connection and community — like ALZ Connected® and the Early Stage Advisory Group. And your support helps make this possible.
We hope that you'll take this moment to join us on behalf of the nearly 7 million Americans living with Alzheimer's and their over 11 million caregivers to help us fulfill our mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
P.S. Don't miss this chance to make your gift go TWICE as far. Please make your first gift now to help us reach our $160,000 goal in time.
Your donation will strengthen our efforts to advance Alzheimer's care, support and research. From face-to-face support to online education programs and promising global research initiatives, your gift makes a difference in the lives of all those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias in your community and across the world. Thank you for your continued support.
