Hello, Friends —

This week, I sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas requesting his department turn over all correspondence since March 2021 related to Vice President Kamala Harris’ designation as the “border czar.”

As was widely reported in March 2021, President Joe Biden tasked Vice President Harris with becoming the “border czar” to oversee the massive influx of illegal aliens coming across the U.S.–Mexico border. At the time, Biden said Harris was “the most qualified person to do it.” However, Harris has recently denied being tasked with the position. Therefore, my letter seeks to uncover all communication at DHS using the terms “czar,” “border,” “migration,” or “immigration” when referring to her.

While our nation’s sovereignty is defiled and we are invaded by millions of illegal aliens, Joe Biden has repeatedly declared that there is no state of emergency at our border. Make no mistake: The Biden-Harris administration is directly responsible for creating the worst immigration crisis of all time.

REP. GAETZ APPLAUDS U.S. DISTRICT COURT DECISION IN GOOGLE ANTITRUST CASE

On Monday, Judge Amit Mehta, presiding over the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, found that Google violated our nation’s antitrust laws. This just so happened to occur on the same day we saw a massive decline in the stock market under the economic policies of the Biden-Harris administration.

The federal court found that Google engaged in a pattern of anticompetitive behavior and abuse of its market position. These behaviors might juice-up stocks in the short run but lead to a very shaky market, harming all Americans.

I applaud Assistant Attorney General Kanter for bringing this case to trial, and I urge Google to commit to complying with whatever remedy the Court orders.

REP. GAETZ REQUESTS STATE DEPARTMENT DOWNGRADE EL SALVADOR’S TRAVEL ADVISORY TO ‘NORMAL PRECAUTIONS’

As the Chair of the Congressional El Salvador Caucus, I led a bipartisan letter, signed by every member of the caucus, to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Tuesday requesting his department downgrade El Salvador’s travel advisory to “Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions.”

Currently, El Salvador’s travel advisory is at “Level 3,” which advises travelers to “reconsider travel” because there are “serious risks to safety and security” in the country. However, due to President Nayib Bukele’s “régimen de excepción,” which has led to the incarceration of more than 75,000 violent gang members, El Salvador has been the safest country in the Western Hemisphere since 2023.

The country’s homicide rate has been steadily declining from a high of 104 per 100,000 inhabitants in 2015 to 2.4 in 2024 and is less than that of nearly every major city in the United States. It is my hope that Secretary Blinken will see El Salvador for its recent accomplishments rather than the blights of its past.
