Happy Friday! I hope you and your family are enjoying the sunny summer weather before we enter the school year. This week, I saw some great improvements in our school districts that our children will enjoy. Investments in our children's education, health, and environment can make some of the greatest impacts for their futures.

$1.72M for Clean Electric School Buses

I was honored to present Hoover-Schrum Memorial School District with $1,725,000 in federal funding to purchase five new electric school buses. This funding was made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which I worked to pass in 2023. All five buses will be manufactured right here in Illinois by Lion Electric.

59th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act

This week marked the 59th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. To explain the importance of this landmark law, I invited my Interns and Congressional Youth Cabinet to hear from local voting rights experts as well as Representatives Jim Clyburn (SC-06), and Terri Sewell (AL-07). 

Rebuilding Ukraine's Health Infrastructure

Since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, they have deliberately targeted Ukraine’s health infrastructure and medical personnel. I was honored to visit the UA Resistance Foundation to learn more about their efforts to bring ambulances and other health tools to Ukraine.
