Pro-Life Women Step in to 'Show God's Love' with Pregnancy Resource Center in Eagle Pass, Pro-Life Laws Result in ‘Zero’ Abortions in Texas, New York County to Ban Protesters from Wearing Masks
Truth Keeps Winning!
John,
Even though the mainstream media won’t tell you, there is good news to report! Judeo/Christian values are winning every day, and biblical truth is prevailing.
Positive things are happening, and here are some stories that will encourage you:
Pro-Life Women Step in to 'Show God's Love' with Pregnancy Resource Center in Eagle Pass
A high-stakes battle for the lives of unborn children is playing out in this part of Texas because women here can easily cross the border into Mexico and obtain an abortion.
Amie Crabtree of Promise Family Services tells us, "They offer the pill and other types of abortion just right across the river. And so, if someone wants to, they can seek that out."
While the issue of migrants flooding the border to get into the U.S. is well known, Americans may be unaware of pregnant women crossing into Mexico for an abortion that is legal and typically low cost.
"They can just go quite easily and then come back without really knowing the consequences of those actions or not really having the support," says Adriana of Promise Family Services.
Three years ago, Texas passed its heartbeat law, banning abortions after six weeks when the preborn child's unique heartbeat becomes detectable. A week later, the Mexican Supreme Court decriminalized abortion. Latin American abortion advocates, known as the green wave, now offer abortions in Mexico to women coming from the U.S. They can find clinics in tourist destinations like Cancun and right across the Rio Grande.
In addition to those clinics, women in Eagle Pass can also obtain abortion pills by mail.
It's one reason why missionary Amie Crabtree and other believers here started Promise Family Services. "We are the only pregnancy resource center in Eagle Pass, the closest one is about an hour away," she says.
A new report is proving that the Lone Star State’s pro-life laws are working, with elective abortions dropping to “zero.” According to the Texas Alliance for Life and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, there have been less than 70 elective abortions in Texas since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and absolutely none over the course of the past two years. The Texas Alliance for Life observed that “for the first 21 months following the United States Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade … reported elective abortions in Texas have consistently dropped from thousands per month to zero.”
In the months preceding the Supreme Court’s landmark Dobbs decision, elective abortions in Texas exceeded 2,000 per month. January 2022 saw 2,531 elective abortions, February saw 2,513, March and April each saw over 3,000, and May and June each saw in excess of 2,500. Following the Supreme Court’s ruling at the end of June, elective abortions dropped off steeply — to only 67 in July of 2022. Beginning in August of 2022, as Texas’s “Human Life Protection Act” went into effect, absolutely zero elective abortions have been reported.
“We are so grateful to hear that no unborn children are killed by abortion in the state of Texas,” said Mary Szoch, director of the Center for Human Dignity at Family Research Council, in comments to The Washington Stand. She continued:
“This victory comes as the result of years of hard work by the pro-life movement to support moms and dads in need though pregnancy resource centers, sidewalk counseling, and prayer. It comes as the result of the work of people willing to stand up and recognize that every person — born and unborn — has inherent dignity, that of all the blessings God gives us, children are undoubtedly the greatest, and that every person deserves the right to life. Thank God for Texas.”
New York County to Ban Protesters from Wearing Masks
A Republican-controlled legislature in a New York suburban county approved a bill this week to ban protesters from wearing masks in public places, though exceptions are made for people who cover their faces for health or religious reasons.
Nassau County lawmakers introduced the Mask Transparency Act to target “antisemitic incidents, often perpetrated by those in masks” in the wake of Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel. The county is located on Long Island.
The bill’s Republican backers argue masked protesters should be punished for engaging in criminal behavior and violence, while Democratic detractors contend the measure will infringe on the health-privacy rights of those with disabilities and not be fairly applied to different communities. The legislature’s twelve Republicans unanimously voted in favor of the bill on Monday, and the chamber’s seven Democrats abstained.
Nassau County executive Bruce Blakeman is expected to sign the bill into law, as he has already expressed support for it.
