CFT moves to new building in Sacramento
The new CFT Sacramento office is open for business! The new address, 1225 H Street, comes with its own stand-alone building, tons of new office and meeting space, and a new chapter in CFT’s standing in the capital city.
Not only is it a capital investment (pun intended) for CFT, but this union hall will be the home for many gatherings, meetings and trainings in the near and distant future.
Former AFT member Tim Walz picked as Harris VP
In exciting news for the labor movement, Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her Vice Presidential pick. Walz, a former social studies teacher and dues paying AFT member, also helped coach the high school's football team and was the faculty advisor for his high school’s Gay Straight Alliance in the 1990s.
CFT President Jeff Freitas when asked about Walz as the pick stated “He very much understands what we do because he did it. This is a great opportunity for education.”

CFT Local 6538 members picket hand in hand with their students for better pay
Dozens of professors and students at Life Chiropractic College West picketed in front of the college to increase pay and improve working conditions. Students showed up in solidarity of their professors' efforts, reaffirming the struggle to afford the cost of living in the Bay Area.
“Faculty are the backbone of our college,” says Local 6538 president Tony Fernando. “Many of us are forced to hold second jobs just to make ends meet, which is a disservice to our students who deserve our undivided attention and support.”
The members will continue to organize and build on their momentum for better pay in advance of their next contract negotiations.
