Maximizing Republican Success with Vote By Mail
As voting by mail (VBM) continues to grow in popularity, it’s crucial for Republicans to adapt and leverage this method to our advantage. Democrats have successfully used VBM to boost their turnout and win tight races. To level the playing field, we must increase our use of VBM, particularly in Illinois, where permanent VBM lists are now authorized.
Why Vote By Mail Matters
Increased Turnout: Democrats’ success with VBM shows its power in driving up voter turnout. To compete, we need to encourage more Republicans to vote by mail.
Mitigating Fraud Risk: Although concerns about VBM exist, evidence suggests that voting by mail is not significantly more prone to fraud than in-person voting. Moreover, VBM can actually reduce the risk of someone else voting on your behalf.
Our partners at the Illinois Conservative Union speak about a “claim your name, secure your vote” strategy to Vote By Mail voting that was used with success in Virginia in 2021, and their viewpoint bears repeating here.
The “Claim Your Name, Secure Your Vote” Strategy
To maximize the benefits of VBM:
Request Early: Voters should request their VBM ballots as soon as possible. This step ensures that their name is on the list and prevents anyone else from requesting a ballot in their name.
Flexible Voting: Once the VBM ballot is received, voters have options. They can vote by mail or, if they prefer, vote in person. If choosing in-person voting, bring the VBM ballot to the polling place, where it will be marked as “SPOILED” and placed in a “Spoiled Ballot” envelope.
Secure Your Vote: By claiming your VBM ballot, you protect your vote. If needed, you can still use the mail, drop off the ballot in person, or have a trusted person deliver it for you, using the affidavit on the Vote By Mail envelope
Why This Strategy Works
Flexibility: Voters have the option to change their voting method if circumstances change.
Early Voting Impact: Voting by mail or early allows our candidates to conserve resources and focus on swing voters.
Take Action
Until we have the legislative power to change VBM laws, let’s use the system to our advantage. By adopting these strategies, we can increase our voter participation and help elect more Republicans.
Pledge to swamp the vote and support our candidates. Together, we can make a difference.

We examined the voting records of all of the commissioned Republican election judges in the City of Chicago, in suburban Cook County, St. Clair County, and East St. Louis. It is apparent that far too many Republican election judges actually have a history of voting in Democratic primaries. We simply must do a better job of filling our Republican election judge positions with actual Republicans. If we do not fill these positions, the Democrats will. Encourage any Republican to take the extra step in participating in the electoral process by becoming an election judge. Sign up to be an election judge!
