Friends,
This is Ilhan Omar, reaching out ahead of my primary election on Tuesday.
If you were to ask me what the worst part about running for Congress is, I'd say that it's the obscene amount of money it takes to build a successful campaign.
The truth is that I hate how much money there is poisoning our political system.
I hate how super PACs and anonymous billionaires can spend unlimited amounts to influence our elections, and I hate how many of my colleagues in Congress are completely fine with our broken, corrupt system because it all serves to benefit them.
But I also understand that in order for our movement to be successful and win, we do need to have the resources required to stay competitive, for ourselves and our partners. And I know there are folks in Congress, like my partner Ayanna Pressley and I, who are committed to changing where the systems are broken.
The reality is that — yes — we have to run TV ads, we have to open offices, we have to fund our organizing efforts on the ground, and so much more.
But all that doesn't mean that we can't stick true to our values.

We've proven time and time again that running a winning campaign through small-dollar, grassroots contributions is not only possible, it's an incredibly powerful way to demonstrate our movement's strength.
So I have to ask. We've got just four days to go until our primary on Tuesday. And I'm really hoping that you can make your first contribution to stand with me before then.
What do you say?
Your grassroots support — a huge portion of it coming directly from emails like this one — is what allows us to fund our campaign this way.
It's what allows me to spend my time, energy, and focus fighting for policies that benefit working people, supporting my constituents in Minnesota, and building our progressive movement all across the country.
I don't take that for granted. I never have, and I never will.
In solidarity,
Ilhan
