Olympians show courage in the face of tyranny

While athletes from North Korea, Afghanistan, and Ukraine courageously competed at the Olympic Games – some even taking home medals – they will be returning to persecution, tyranny, oppression, and violence. Igor Khrestin, the Bradford M. Freeman Managing Director of Global Policy at the Bush Institute, wrote about the Ukrainian Olympians demonstrating perseverance in the face of war. Chris Walsh, Director of Global Policy at the Bush Institute, argued that we can’t let smiling selfies at the Games mask the darker reality many athletes face at home.
