Soldiers' Angels: Continuing to Serve Through COVID-19
Soldiers’ Angels staff is working tirelessly amid the COVID-19 pandemic to provide aid and comfort to deployed service members, their families, and veterans in need. We strongly believe that it is our responsibility to ensure that No Soldier Goes Unloved, No Soldier Walks Alone, No Soldier is Forgotten, Until They All Come Home.
Below are some of the ways that we are assisting our brave men and women in uniform and those who have fought so gallantly for our freedom in the past. Many of these services are geographic-specific depending on the needs of the VA Hospitals and communities that we support.
Providing Tablets and devices for veteran patients at VA’s to video chat with family and/or virtually visit with Soldiers’ Angels staff and volunteers. Providing medical transport for homeless COVID positive veterans to get to designated quarantine housing facilities.Providing non-perishable box lunches: for low-income veterans who cannot get out to the grocery store due to quarantine measures; for homeless veterans.Making and providing handmade masks to VA Hospital personnel as well as active duty and deployed service members and their families.Providing hygiene kits to VA staff to hand out to veteran patients at the VA on lockdown whose families cannot come in and bring them these items from home.Providing hot meals to VA Hospital Medical Staff on the front-lines of health care.Supporting deploying and deployed units who were activated for COVID relief with care packages, meals, hygiene and snack items, and other immediate needs. Supporting the caregivers of wounded, ill or injured service members in our Women of Valor program with supplemental food to help them feed their families.Hosting Mobile Food Distributions in six locations throughout the United States (San Antonio, TX; Detroit, MI; Atlanta, GA; Orlando, FL; Charleston, SC; Denver, CO) by providing groceries to over 200 low-income veterans and their families. We will continue this service within the guidelines of the federal, state and local governments.Sending care packages to deployed service members in areas where supplies are limited.Delivering meals to veterans who are elderly or have health conditions that limit their ability to leave their home for food due to COVID exposure risk.Purchasing hand sanitizer or working with donated hand sanitizer to send to deployed service members as well as for use by our volunteers at Mobile Food Distributions.
As additional needs arise, we will be ready to serve based on our resources. For the latest updates on our COVID response programs, visit our website at:

Supporting COVID First Responders
Soldiers’ Angels has been providing support to combat deployed service members for the last seventeen years—much of that support in the form of care packages stuffed with snacks, hygiene items, candy, books, etc. Now, amid the #coronavirus [[link removed]] pandemic, we are also supporting those who have been deployed a little closer to home— units who have been deployed to support COVID operations across the country.
Soldiers’ Angels was honored to provide support to the 4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) out of Fort Sam Houston. This unit was recently tasked with providing all sustainment and life support logistics to erect a field hospital in Seattle, Washington. They handled all behind-the-scenes logistics that would go into implementing a field hospital--- from arranging food and hotels for the medical staff to transporting medical equipment and erecting the hospital.
Located in San Antonio, the unit was able to pick up a truckload of snacks, drinks, and hygiene items directly from the Soldiers’ Angels office!
Thank you so much to the 4th ESC and all units tasked with such an important job amid the pandemic. We appreciate you and thank you for all you are doing in service to this country during this crisis.
Our deployed service members are on the front lines of the war with this virus and many of our veterans are among those in the most vulnerable population. Let's come together and pay it forward to these incredible individuals.
We've put together some great virtual volunteer opportunities that can all be done from the comfort of your home with minimal supplies and/or supplies most of you already have at home. And if you don't, we've included links to products on Amazon that will help you get started.
So... no matter if you are trying to keep the kiddos busy, trying to engage employees remotely, or trying to fight your own quarantine blues... take a look, we have something for everyone! Scroll down for a brief description or click the button for full details.

It's now becoming a requirement in some areas to wear face masks when we're in public. While we're still encouraged to practice social distancing and maintain six feet of distance from other people, these DIY face masks are an extra step of security to help #slowthespread of COVID-19.
Whether you're an expert at sewing or not, we have two different ways to show you how to make your own face masks at home.
Even better - they both require minimal material and tools!

It is now required that all service members and their families wear face masks while on post. However, mask materials aren't too easy to come by lately and unfortunately, the government isn't able to supply face masks to service members or their families.
As a result, many military families around the world have reached out in hopes to acquire face masks, but as the requests for masks continue to increase, the need for materials such as fabric, elastic, etc. becomes a bit more challenging as well.
Find out how you can help!
