Hi John,

I've just published a new blog post:

Gavin Newsom is bitter and adrift. His years-long scheme to replace Biden ended in an epic faceplant. His all-time-low approval rating makes him America’s most unpopular Governor. His collaborator in California’s decline, Kamala Harris, has sidelined him in her campaign.

So now – accepting his status as Mr. Irrelevant, embracing the art of self-parody – he’s doing a podcast with NFL running back Marshawn Lynch. Even favorable media outlets are aghast. Slate’s headline: "There’s Something Very Odd About Gavin Newsom’s New Podcast."

And yet, Newsom is intent on proving he still has an enormous capacity to harm Californians. A federal audit just found his homelessness agency allowed rampant fraud; this comes after a state audit found he "lost track" of $24 billion in funding. The pieces are coming together.

And yesterday, his Finance Department opposed a bill making it a felony to sexually exploit trafficked children, claiming the legislation is too expensive. Newsom will pay for every illegal immigrant to get free healthcare, but not for child predators to go to prison.

And Newsom is still fighting our End 47 initiative, even as a new report shows shoplifting has reached a 25-year high. None of his schemes (the Imposter Initiative, the Poison Pill, the frivolous lawfare) to keep it off the ballot worked, yet he thinks he can win the vote. He won’t.

Meanwhile in DC: Last month, I made the case that an international organization called GARM violated antitrust law when they organized an advertising boycott of Twitter/X. After the hearing, Elon Musk sued GARM. Yesterday, they disbanded. This is a big win for free speech.

As to Kamala, the California Globe has a story on our Prop. 57 exposé: "Violent criminals are let out under an early release law enabled by Kamala Harris." The campaign is desperately hoping her California record will remain hidden until Election Day. It’s up to us to reveal the truth.
