Festival of the st̓əč̓as (Steh-Chass) to close Water Street, 5th Avenue
Event:
DES will close roads and reroute traffic for safety during the Festival of the st̓əč̓as (Steh-Chass).
Where & when:
Saturday, Aug. 17.
All day: East of Heritage Park, Water Street SW will be closed.
From 5-7 p.m.: Fifth Avenue SW will be closed between Deschutes Parkway SW and Simmons Street NW.
Impact:
Travelers going west on Fifth Avenue SW will be rerouted to Fourth Avenue via Simmons Street NW.
Travelers going east on Deschutes Parkway will be rerouted to Olympic Street West.

We’re partnering with the Squaxin Island Tribe, who consider the people and land of the Deschutes Estuary as Steh-Chass, in the design of this project to restore 260 acres of estuarine and salt marsh habitat at the mouth of the Deschutes River.
