Dear John,
Today, two consequential articles have been published by our tireless LDAD colleagues. Board member Walter H. White wrote this piece that appeared in The Fulcrum: Kamala Harris is Black & Asian and Why Does Trump Care? [[link removed]]
The other article is by LDAD co-founder Scott Harshbarger and LDAD Counsel Dennis Aftergut: Preserving Constitutional Democracy: A Tale of Two Lawyers [[link removed]] .
LDAD is also pleased to announce the addition of an important new resource designed to aid lawyers and law professors interested in teaching legal ethics. This timely Legal Ethics Curriculum [[link removed]] focuses on four lawyers who participated in efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, all of whom were the subject of ethics complaints filed by LDAD.
As described in our Democracy Commitment [[link removed]] , LDAD is committed to providing tools and resources to help the legal community take action to protect democracy and the rule of law. We are deeply grateful to LDAD's dedicated volunteer attorney and adjunct professor of law, Stephen H. Marcus, for this significant contribution to the field. The profession, including law schools, must broaden how legal ethics are taught by including case studies of lawyers who abused their oath and violated ethical requirements in their representation of public officials. Such lawyers harm the profession and our democratic institutions.
At this most perilous moment in our democracy, LDAD asks that you donate today [[link removed]] , to help us continue the important work we do to galvanize the legal profession and to provide analysis and information to the public. Engaging all of our communities in the work of preserving democracy and the rule of law is the challenge of our lifetime. Please support us and join us.
Thank you for your dedication to maintaining our democracy,
Lawyers Defending American Democracy
