I have led social justice non-profit organizations in Colorado for over a decade, working on the front lines to protect our reproductive freedoms, combat discrimination in the workplace, and demand equity for communities pushed to the margins, including the LGBTQ community, immigrants, and those living in poverty.
While fighting for social justice, I have had to go up against both of my democratic opponents. In 2013, John Hickenlooper fought our efforts to make comprehensive sexual health education mandatory for all schools that choose to offer sexual education. We won this fight and became the nation’s model.
In 2008, I l fought alongside labor, to make sure that the State’s Employees Union was not stripped of their right to strike during negotiations. Unfortunately, Andrew Romanoff, then speaker of the House chose to side with the republicans instead of Colorado workers voting to weaken Colorado’s Unions.
This defeat did not stop me. I continue to fight for stronger Unions. And I will continue to fight for the sexual and reproductive health of everyone, as well as to strengthen our Unions.
We need a U.S. Senator who will always put people first, above profit, above Party and above Self.
