Georgia is going to be a key battleground state this November – most polling shows Harris only two points behind Trump (!!!). At Her Bold Move, we are focused on unseating the legislators who helped pass abortion bans at the state level in states like Georgia.

Debra is a mother of five, an attorney, and a former news anchor. Her opponent is an extremely conservative woman named Jan Jones, who has recently been endorsed by “Frontline Policy Action,” an organization that advocates for biblical values and supports candidates that would affirm those values in office.

Representative Jones has not been a meaningful voice for women in Georgia – she helped pass a draconian abortion ban that criminalizes women and doctors. Georgia already has one of the highest rates of maternal mortality in the country, and now the state's failure to accept Medicaid expansion has caused numerous rural hospital closures, making access to healthcare even harder for all women. It’s clear the women of Debra’s district need a different woman to represent them in the state legislature.

We believe Debra has what it takes to be that woman. Here’s what she had to say:

What alarms me—and what motivated me to run for office—is the rollback of rights and liberties. As a State Representative, I will work to restore a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions with her family and her doctor, not politicians.

The demographics have shifted in this district, and Debra’s opponent no longer truly represents the values of her constituents. You know what that means: this Georgia district has emerged as a new battleground. In fact, in the 2020 election, President Biden received 46% of the vote in this district, and in the 2022 election, Sen. Warnock received 48% of the vote. Now, with higher turnout expected for the presidential election, Democrats are in a strong position to win this seat. But Debra needs our help to make it happen.
