A Message from Gabe:
Greetings Rhode Islanders,
This week, I’m thrilled to spotlight a fantastic investment in Rhode Island’s First District. Working alongside Senator Jack Reed, I am proud to announce that we secured $850,000 in federal funding to renovate the Cumberland-Lincoln Clubhouse of the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Rhode Island.
The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Rhode Island offers a range of programs, including before and afterschool childcare, youth development activities, and many athletic programs. Passed as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2024, this significant investment will go towards renovations and enhancements of the clubhouse, which serves more than 2,600 young Rhode Islanders each year. With these resources, they will improve the core facilities and surrounding grounds and fields, ensuring that it remains a vibrant and welcoming environment for young people to learn, grow, and succeed for years to come.
I joined Senator Reed, Governor Dan McKee, Boys & Girls Club of Nothern Rhode Island President & CEO Gary Rebelo, students, staff, and community members to discuss how the renovation will help the organization continue to serve as a critical community space for local youth.
As your Member of Congress, I will continue to fight for initiatives that strengthen our communities and give children and families the resources they need to succeed. Your feedback and input is essential to this effort as we work to create opportunity for every Rhode Islander. If you would ever like to get in touch with our office, please visit our website, call us at (401) 729- 5600 or by emailing [email protected].
| Sincerely, |

The Biden-Harris Administration has proposed a new rule that would prohibit airlines from charging additional fees for Rhode Island families with young children to sit together on flights.
The Department of Transportation's proposed rule also would make it mandatory for airlines to seat parents next to young children when seating is available.
This initiative builds on the Biden-Harris administration’s work to enhance the rights of airline passengers, lower costs for families and better protect consumers.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs redesigned the Burn Pit Registry, which collects data from service members and Veterans who were exposed to burn pits and other airborne hazards during service.
The registry is a critical tool in the VA’s work to research and improve care for impacted Veterans. For more details, you can visit the VA's Burn Pit Registry page.
Additionally, you can learn more about benefits, screenings, and health care available to Veterans exposed to toxins during their service here.

Rep. Amo Introduces Bill to Improve Artificial Intelligence Literacy for K-12 Students

Last week, I teamed up with Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (R-NJ) to introduce the Literacy in Future Technologies Artificial Intelligence (LIFT AI) Act, a bipartisan bill to improve artificial intelligence literacy for K-12 students.
The impact of artificial intelligence will only continue to grow as more people use the technology. Just like we needed to invest in internet literacy when the internet revolutionized learning in the 1990’s, my legislation would make sure the next generation of students have the skills they need to responsibly use artificial intelligence.
The LIFT AI Act would support a grant program within the National Science Foundation for research and development of artificial intelligence literacy curriculum and evaluation methods for K-12 students, educators, and administrators. If enacted, it would prepare students for a future where artificial intelligence plays a significant role in everyday life and their careers.
