Hey John,
It’s Austin Davis, the youngest lieutenant governor in the country and a proud endorser of Bethany’s campaign for Governor.
My journey began in McKeesport, Pennsylvania where my mom worked as a hairdresser and my dad worked as a dedicated union bus driver.
When I was just 16, I saw first-hand the impact of gun violence in my community. I knew that I needed to make a difference. Fueled by the legacy of civil rights leaders and many other influential figures like my parents, I took matters into my own hands.
With the help of my local mayor, I helped kickstart a youth gun violence prevention program during high school. As a first-generation college student, I then decided to further my education at the University of Pittsburgh.
I returned to McKeesport and in 2018 I made history as the first Black representative from my district. And just 4 years later, I joined Josh Shapiro’s ticket for Governor, becoming the first Black lieutenant governor in Pennsylvania, and the youngest in the country.
My work doesn't stop here, John. I remain focused on addressing the real issues of our time — gun violence, championing small and minority-owned businesses, and advocating for working class Pennsylvanians across the state. Bethany knows this as much as I do: Lieutenant governors get it done!
Just like the hard working mentality my parents instilled in me, I’m committed to using my platform to inspire the next generation — like my little daughter Harper — to dream big and make a difference.
