Friend – one of my favorite parts about being on the campaign trail is meeting people all across Texas with stories just like mine.

I’ll be telling folks in El Paso or San Marcos about how I was raised by a single mom, how I got my education in Dallas public schools, or how I used to get carsick on the long drive down to Brownsville to visit my grandmother, and I’ll see people in the crowd nodding along with me. They get it. They’ve been there, too. 

That’s the thing about Texans. We don’t always have it easy, but we have a lot of pride about where we come from. And we’re always there to help our neighbors.

One thing Texans aren’t proud of, though? Ted Cruz.

He takes every opportunity to grandstand and promote himself – but when it comes to helping Texans, he’s nowhere to be found.

That’s why I’m running for Senate against him, because this is so personal to me. I’m a fourth-generation Texan, and I know Texans are better than what Ted Cruz makes us out to be – and we’re ready to prove it. Three polls in a row have us in a statistical tie, and I know, with one big push right now, we can take the lead.

So I’m personally asking: If you care about defeating Ted Cruz, if you care about putting someone in the Senate who will actually show up for Texans, please chip in $5 or more to my grassroots campaign before my midnight fundraising deadline.
